International Students On-Campus Living

1£®On-campus Lodging
There are apartment buildings exclusively for international students¡¯ use in the School. Rules of lodgings of international students are as follows:
a. Upon the approval of International Cultural Exchange School of SUFE, international students can check in by producing their Admission Notice and passport.
b. International students need to fill in Registration Form and sign Rent Agreements before moving in.
c. Dormitory Administration of the School will assign rooms to international students. Students are not supposed to change rooms or re-lease their rooms to other people.
d. For the rent the tenants need to pay, please refer to Room Rates.
e. One boy student and one girl student should not share a room if they are not husband and wife.
f. Tenants need to pay up the deposit and rent for one semester either in US dollar or RMB yuan at the beginning of each semester when registering. The following steps are to be followed when checking in: paying up the deposit and getting the key from the janitor; looking around the rented room with the janitor and filling in the List of Articles Borrowed; signing the List and keeping one copy for inspection and for the use of checking out in the future.
g. Tenants should not invite other people to live in the room they have rented. Their family members can stay in the room they have rented for three days free of charge after getting permission from the janitor. For any extra days they have to pay 30% more rent.
h. International students should not check out before the end of a semester. The one who quits in the middle of a semester will be handled as an exceptional case.
i. The janitor will inspect all the facilities and articles in the room when tenants check out. In case of any loss or damage, corresponding compensation will be deducted from the deposit.
j. The students who have completed their studies or want to quit before a semester ends should check out one week in advance. If they stay longer, the Administration will not provide rooms at preferential rates. The standard rate is 150% of the preferential price.
k. It is forbidden to use electric stove or other electric heating appliances. The janitor will inspect the rooms to check the use of electric appliances.
l. Tenants should keep quiet in the dorm rooms, and must not make big noise or turn the volume of any audio-video equipment too high.
m. Tenants should keep clean and tidy in the building and take good care of public property. They should not do any damage to the facilities. They should not disassemble or refit any articles in the room.
n. It is forbidden to raise pets such as cat or dog in the building.
o. It is forbidden to keep any inflammable or explosive articles. It is forbidden to set off fireworks or firecrackers. It is forbidden to pile up things in the building.
p. The public kitchen on the first floor of the Apartment Building is for public use, and the open hours are as follows: 11:00 ~ 13:00; 17:00 ~ 19:00
q. It is forbidden to put personal things in the passages. No scribble on the wall is permitted. Post no bills.
r. Those who have violated m, n, o, p, or q will have to pay full price in compensation. In case of a serious violation, he or she will be prosecuted for his or her criminal responsibility according to the laws of China.
s. Economize on electricity and tap water.
t. Tenants should take good care of the key to their rooms. In case of the loss of the key, he or she should report to the janitor and pay for a new key. Tenants should return the keys when checking out. Tenants should not change door locks or install door bell.
u. Observe the study schedule of the School and Rules for Meeting Guests. Tenants should return to their rooms before 23:00 on weekdays, and 24:00 on weekends. Please refer to Rules for Meeting Guests for details.
v. The Dormitory Administration is responsible for the interpretation of these provisions.
w. These provisions shall become effective on February 1, 2002.

2£®On-campus Lodging Expenses

Room Rate I

Basic facilities: bed, mattress, writing desk, chair, wardrobe, bookshelf, table lamp, wall lamp, carpet or floor board, telephone (for 201 Magnetic Card only), refrigerator, color TV set, and air-conditioner.
Public facilities:
(1) tap water, gas stove and kitchen utensils for free use;
(2) coin washing machine (buy a magnetic card before use);
(3) tenants of each room don¡¯t need to pay for the first 15 kilowatt-hours of electricity they consume every month.

Single Rooms: Daily Rate: US$6 / night / person
Standard Rooms : Daily Rate: US$9 / night
Suites:Daily Rate: US$14 / night
Rooms for Three Persons : Daily Rate: US$14 / night
The rooms will be cleaned every day. Please put the Please Clean out. Windows will be cleaned once every two weeks.

Room Rate IIIV

Welcome to the School¡¯s apartment buildings.
All the daily expendable articles are included in the Room Rates. All other articles are fixed assets of the building. If there should be any loss or damage to such articles, you have to make compensations as follows:

Notes:
a. Do not stain the carpet. Anyone who has stained less than 0.5 square meter of the carpet should pay a compensation of RMB 25 yuan. If the stained part is larger than 0.5 square meter, the compensation will be based on the actual stained area.
b. Please put cigarette ends into ashtray if you are a smoker. Anyone who has burnt carpet or furniture should pay compensation. For every scorch, the compensation is 50 yuan. The compensation for burnt furniture will depend on the actual damages done, usually 10 ~ 80% of the costs.
c. Compensations for damages to other articles and sanitary equipment will be the costs of the complete set. If fixing up is possible, the compensation will be 120% of the cost or 10 ~ 80% of the original price.
d. Safes are available in the Administrative Office for students and the valuables such as portable book-computers can be kept there. The charge for each box of the safe is RMB 60 Yuan per year; RMB 30 Yuan for six months; the deposit for the key to the safe is RMB 50 Yuan.

4£®Meeting Guests
a. Hours of meeting guests: 14:00 ~ 17:00
b. Tenants should meet guests in the lobby or bar, not in the dorm room. If any guest wants to go into tenants¡¯ room, he or she should produce his or her ID card and apply together with the tenants for approval before getting into the rooms. Guests should leave the room before 17:00.
c. If any student studying in the School or any staff member wants to go into the rooms, he or she should leave his or her student ID card or work ID card in the gate house. When leaving, he or she can get the ID card back.
d. Teachers of the office or in charge of the classes should produce their ID card before going into the rooms but they don¡¯t need to register.

Tap water, electricity, and gas bills

Electricity bills are based on the metered consumption. But tenants of each room don¡¯t need to pay for the first 15 kilowatt-hours of electricity they consume every month. Tap water and public gas are free of charge.

Room facilities: bed, mattress, writing desk, chair, wardrobe, bookshelf, table lamp, wall lamp, telephone, refrigerator, color TV set with remote controller, and air-conditioner with remote controller.

Room type: separate sanitary equipment and shower 24-hour hot water supply

Tenants should abide by the following:

  • Paying electricity bills to the Administration on time and in full.
  • You are committed to renting the room for one semester. If you want to change rooms, you should submit an application at the end of a semester. Adjustments are possible based on real situation.
  • If there is a big demand for dorm rooms, the Administration reserves the right to assign two students liliving in one standard room.
  • Take good care of the facilities and articles in the rooms. Never give or lend them to any other person. In case of a loss or damage, tenants should pay full compensation.
